In addition to brightfield applications, HAMAMATSU is also offering the option of adding fluorescence imaging to virtual microscopy.

Easy upgrade of your existing NanoZoomer
The optional Fluorescence Illumination Optics expands the digital slide applications to include fluorescence-labeled samples. You can easily upgrade an existing NanoZoomer with the fluorescence option. This makes the NanoZoomer a truly scalable system.
High efficiency optical system
The fluorescence option includes specially designed optics that excite the sample without causing unncessary bleaching. In combination with the unique TDI sensor technology this also provides for high-speed scanning even for fluorescence applications.
Powerful sample detection system
A special optical design allows the system to automatically detect the position of the fluorescence-stained sample on the glass slide. This enables automatic scanning process even in case of fluorescence samples.
Unique sensor technology
- The unique 3-CCD TDI (time-delay-and-integration) sensor allows high-speed scanning also for fluorescence samples. It typically takes less than a minute to scan a 1cm2 sample area at 20x magnification. Use single or multi band pass filter cubes to scan up to 3 wavelengths simultaneously (DAPI/FITC/Texas Red, for example).
- The prism of the 3-CCD digital camera splits the blue, green, and red signals and guides them to separate sensors. This ensures fast multiwavelength scanning and avoids any misalignment often observed with sequential, filter-wheel based acquisition systems.
- An intuitive graphical interface allows you to adjust some scanning parameters if desired.
- All features available for brightfield operation are also available for the fluorescence mode as well, including Z-stack scanning.
