The technologies used to make microchannel plates have been applied to make capillary and fiber optic plates. Capillary plates are used in  flow control, differential pressure windows, vacuum UV/soft X-ray collimators and particle filters. Fiber optic plates are used to transfer optical images from one plane to another. They are used in faceplates for imaging devices and in fiber optic scintillators.
