For systems that transmit through the air instead of in fibers we offer a number of silicon avalanche photodiodes (APD). With an internal gain of 30 the APDs are ideal for spatial transmission, allowing an increased range and a larger loss budget. For short distances, silicon photodiodes in plastic packages with a molded lens can be used. The lens increases the distance and makes alignment easier.
