Silicon photodiodes can incorporate a low-noise preamplifier chip in the same package. This configuration makes them highly resistant to external noise and suitable for compact circuit design. Silicon photodiodes can also have a built-in TE cooler to reduce the dark current and to enhance performance. Hamamatsu manufactures a variety of photodiodes with preamps (cooled and non-cooled versions) as well as TE-cooled photodiodes. These products are ideal for a wide range of applications involving low-light-level detection such as analytical instruments for NOx detection and precision measurements.
