Part Number C4780
Name of product Picosecond Fluorescence Lifetime Measurement System
Brief description A system for time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy with a temporal resolution (IRF) of approx. 15 ps
Full description
The Hamamatsu Picosecond Fluorescence Lifetime Measurement System has been developed in response to the requirements of researchers studying photofunctional materials. The system uses a "streakscope", a kind of optical transient recorder with picosecond time response, realizing ultra-fast time-resolved spectrophotometry.

The use of streak camera technology allows photon-counting detection sensitivity as well as simultaneous multi-channel time / wavelength measurements.

Features
  • 5 ps time resolution. The "streakscope" detector has an IRF of approx. 15 ps. Through deconvolution processing, lifetimes as short as 5 ps can be measured with ease.
  • Two-dimensional photon counting. Ultra-high sensitivity and simultaneous multiple-wavelength measurement capabilities are realized by the combination of photon counting and streak camera techniques. Because fluorescence phenomena at multiple wavelengths can be measured simultaneously, even very-low fluorescence can be measured with high efficiency, a feature not available by other methods.
  • A wide dynamic range better than 10,000 : 1. Measures very-low fluorescence with a dynamic range better than 10,000 : 1. This allows the analysis of multi-component fluorescence lifetime with high accuracy.
  • Measures fluorescence lifetime with a good S/N ratio in a short period. The streak sweep can be operated at up to 2 MHz. Through integration of this high-speed repetitive sweep, measurement with a high S/N ratio can be carried out in a short period.
  • Covers fluorescence phenomena from picoseconds to milliseconds. Because the sweep time can be varied from 1 ns to 10 ms, a wide range of fluorescence lifetime measurements from picoseconds to milliseconds is possible.
  • Covers a wide wavelength range from UV to infrared. Three streakscope models are available, with sensitive ranges of 200 to 850 nm, 400 to 900 nm, and 300 to 1500 nm.
Applications
  • Study of fast processes in photophysics and photochemistry
  • Study of the dynamics of surfaces and interfaces, such as macromolecule film, LB film, liquid crystal, and deposition film
  • Study of the rotational and translational diffusion of protein in membranes
  • Study of exciton dynamics and quantum size effects
  • Study, evaluation, and inspection related to fluorescence lifetime measurements in various other fields
  • Simultaneous measurement of the fluorescence spectrum and lifetime of single dye molecules.
