Education and Training
Virtual microscopy allows viewing of virtual slides by a large numbers of students simultaneously. The big advantages are that it's possible that all students view exactly the same slide at the same time, and that they can focus their attention on the slide contents itself instead of fiddling around with glass slides and old microscopes.
Diagnosis
The interpretation and quantification of disease state by examining a tissue section depends on the knowledge and skill of an individual pathologist and is therefore inherently affected by a certain level of subjectivity. Virtual microscopy can help improve on this in a variety of ways such as easy consultation (without any need to physically transport the slides) and it also opens the road to introducing software-assisted methods for certain tasks which will become important in future.
Tissue Micro Array (TMA)
Combine the Nanozomer with powerful and innovative TMA software. Automatically segment TMA slides into the cores, assist with manual, semi-automatic or even automatic scoring, link the individual scores with the patient ID in a database, perform data mining, assessment consolidation and statistics in huge databases, and so forth. There is hardly another field where your investment will return benefit so quickly in terms of saved manual working time.
Image Analysis
Quantify nuclear, cellular or membrane markers. Count cells, nuclei or more complex structures. Use powerful morphometry tools. Perform high-throughput toxicology by combining the speed of the NanoZoomer with sophisticated analysis software. The solutions are as varied as the tasks. Consult with us for discussing your individual needs!
Archiving
The physical bulk of large physical slide collections have created massive storage and accessibility problems. The creation of virtual slides which can be stored locally on computer systems allows them to be easily retrieved for retrospective studies and makes it possible for glass slides to be moved more quickly to storage facilities located on site or elsewhere.
